One of the overarching expectations of the South Carolina English Language Arts College and Career Ready Standards for students is to cite evidence to explain and justify reasoning (ELA.OE.5). Utilizing text-dependent writing across content areas will enable students to meet this expectation. Text-dependent writing encourages students to write responses that analyze the text by drawing inferences and citing evidence from the text to support their claims. Join Ginger andSusan as they provide ideas to help students organize their knowledge by using text-dependent writing frames and explicit instruction. Everyone will leave with ideas to implement with ease in the classroom.
