SC CEC PreConference Event

Come for a fun day at the beach as we surf into evidence-based strategies for literacy and math. These classroom strategies can be implemented immediately when you return from the beach. If you are a teacher or provide support to teachers, join for one or both sessions to learn, share, and network.

This event is FREE, but registration is required.

Intended Audience: General and special education teachers and instructional support who serve students with disabilities and other students with persistent learning challenges

Join Dr. Blair Payne as she shares strategies framed around the “Science of Math,” and highlights five key evidence-based practices for effective mathematics instruction across tiers and grade levels: systematic and explicit teaching (plan, model, practice), emphasizing math language, using multiple representations, building fluency, and providing structured word problem instruction. It concludes with guidance on aligning mathematics instruction within RTI frameworks and co-teaching models to support all learners.

Catch the Swell of the Science of Reading with these Literacy Strategies

Anchored in the science of reading, we’re ready to catch the swell and strengthen our literacy instruction with these evidence-based practices. Join the AASC team as they share instructional strategies that can be applied across grade levels. This session will address strategies that will enable teachers to specially design and intensify instruction in the areas of decoding, reading fluency, vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and written language. Participants will be given electronic resources.
