This seven-part webinar series is designed to build educator knowledge and skill in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies in mathematics. The webinars are most effective when used as part of a coherent, leadership-supported professional learning process, rather than as isolated or independent viewing experiences.
The series is intended for use in professional learning communities with a facilitator leading the session. Once registered, you will receive access to the webinar, a facilitator’s guide, and instructional materials. The suggested viewing sequence is as follows:
- Spaced Learning Over Time (Grades K-12) Beginning with spaced learning provides a foundational understanding of how learning is strengthened through intentional review and distributed practice. This strategy helps educators think about instruction across days and weeks and sets the stage for the strategies that follow.
- Interleaving Practice Format (Grades K-12) Interleaving builds naturally from spaced learning by helping teachers design practice that intentionally mixes related skills and concepts. When introduced early, this strategy influences how teachers plan lessons, assignments, and assessments.
- Practice Test Retrieval (Grades K-12) Practice test retrieval deepens understanding of how memory, retrieval, and feedback support long-term learning. Placing this strategy early helps teachers reconsider how they use quizzes, warm-ups, and checks for understanding.
- Developing Mathematical Fluency (Grades K-6)At this point in the sequence, teachers are ready to connect practice structures to fluency development. This webinar helps clarify what fluency is and how it can be intentionally developed without sacrificing conceptual understanding.
- Worked Solution Strategy – Part 1 (Grades 4-12) This webinar introduces the rationale and core components of using worked solutions to support learning. It is most effective once teachers have a strong grasp of practice design and fluency goals.
- Worked Solution Strategy – Part 2 (Grades 4-12) Part 2 builds on the initial foundation by focusing on deeper implementation, scaffolding, and fading supports. Viewing these two webinars in sequence supports coherence and depth of understanding.
- Supporting Mathematical Language (Grades K-12) Ending with mathematical language allows teachers to integrate precise language, discourse, and representation across all previously introduced strategies. This webinar reinforces and strengthens implementation of the full set of strategies
