The literacy brief, “Get the Gist,” describes an evidence-based practice that can be used across all content areas to improve text comprehension.  “Get the Gist” is a cognitive strategy that is one component of the Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR). It is designed to enhance students’ reading comprehension by teaching summarization skills.
