IEP Brief: Program Modifications

IEP BRIEF

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that the individualized education program (IEP) must have a statement of the program modifications or supports for school personnel that will enable the student to (a) make progress in accomplishing their annual goals (b) be involved in and make progress in the general curriculum, and (c) participate in extracurricular and other non-academic activities (34 C.F.R.§ 300.320(4)). This document is intended to guide IEP teams in determining modifications for students who are participating in the South Carolina College and Career Readiness Assessments, rather than the alternate assessment.
